John 12:23; 13:31 “The hour is come, that the son of man should be glorified … Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.”
Easter gives us understanding about the greatest mystery of life. Shortly before Jesus’ crucifixion he said, “I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.” John 17:4
At the time of Jesus’ coming, the people expected a Messiah to be a king with a visible kingdom. The central teaching of his entire life was conscious communion with his Father, God.
Intellect may see the principle of life and be able to speak about it glibly enough, but until we become conscious of the Christ, the Divine spark within us and are able to commune with God freely, we cannot do the works of God. Jesus said of John the Baptist, who represents the man of illumined intellect, that he was a brilliant man, but anyone who goes beyond intellect and communes with God is greater than John. The person who knows that their work is to glorify God on earth by being love and peace, joy and truth is him or herself, resurrecting. They are dieing to the old and being born to their greater self.
Our spiritual thought for the day is: Today, I glorify God by living peace, joy, truth and love.
