Weekly Thoughts To Uplift And Inspire

James 2:23 “Abraham believed God … and he was called the Friend of God.”

When Abraham received intuitive guidance, he didn’t hesitate.  He was willing to let go of all the past beliefs that had limited him and his people.  Instead, Abraham believed God.  He put on the new man, accepting new ideas that would lead him and his people to a new land and a new life.  In order to carry out the spiritual directions that came to him, Abraham had to stay close to God in consciousness, so close that he was called the Friend of God.

Even as we yearn to give and received the friendship of God, the Spirit within offers eternal friendship.  “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.”  (James 4:8)  In this feeling of closeness with God, one is lifted above personal fear and doubt and limitation.  We become a new person with a new outlook.  We are a friend of God.

Our prayer for the day is:  Father, thank you for the ability to be your friend.  You are the Spirit of Truth, my Comforter … you are with me always.  I draw close to you in thought, word and act.  I am led by the Light that shines throughout the cosmos, keeping all creation in harmony.  With joy I let this Light shine through me.   Thank you, dear God, for infinite friendship with you and all your creation.
