Zechariah 9:17 “How great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty!”

           God’s beauty is all around us, but to see this beauty we must open our eyes.  We must give it our attention.

          There is beauty in a rainbow, but if our gaze is downward we can’t see it.  There is beauty in a sunset, in the stars, in a snowflake, in the summer flowers and even in the gray/brown of winter, but to see this beauty we must look for it.

          As there is an outer beauty expressed in so many ways in God’s great universe, so there is also an inner beauty.  There is a beauty of the heart that is seen through a kind and thoughtful act.  There is a beauty of the mind that is known through the written or spoken word.  There is a beauty of the soul that is seen in a noble and courageous deed.  Truly, God’s beauty is all around us and we will see it more and more each day as we give it our attention.

          Someone once said, “The great end of man is not only to see beauty, but often having seen it, to live it.”

          Our spiritual thought for the day:  For God’s beauty all around me and for the desire to live aware of it, I am grateful.  Thank you, Father God.
