Romans 13:11 “Now it is high time to awake out of sleep.”
God prods us all the time to arouse from slumber and really live. We intoxicate ourselves with useless habits. We develop negative thought patterns and hang on to them like barnacles to a ship. We become engrossed in the mechanics of living without alerting ourselves to the purpose of life.
Today, right now, is the important moment. Let us capitalize upon its potential and awaken today to any habits which are fruitless.
Rabindranath Tagore tells us, “All desires that distract me, day and night, are false and empty to the core. As the night keeps hidden in its gloom the petition for light, even thus in the depths of my unconsciousness rings the cry I want Thee, Oh God, only Thee.” Let us realize the soul’s need for God. We must awaken from ignorance and make life the rewarding experience it is supposed to be.
We must be sure that we are not driven by our habits. Let’s examine our daily routine. If we discover that we are frittering away our energies, “it is high time to awake out of sleep.” We must simplify our life and make more time for God.
Our spiritual thought for the day is: Father, “I want Thee, only Thee.” Thank you, Father.
