Luke 12:32 “It is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
Everyone is familiar with the parable of The Prodigal Son and his return from the far country of negative thoughts and actions. However, we sometimes forget that his older brother had some problems too. When clear sailing prevailed, he rode the waves undaunted, but when the younger brother needed a helping hand, the older one became filled with anger, jealousy and recriminations, even showing ingratitude toward his father. Beside all these negative emotions, he wallowed in self-pity.
It is interesting to note the number of cases in the Bible where parallels are drawn the stories of Cain and Abel, Jacob and Esau, Joseph and his brothers.
We are told that in our Father’s house are many mansions all the good we can ever anticipate. Let’s look within our own being to search out and remove any hidden, subtle thoughts and emotions that have kept us earth-bound. Today, let’s think only constructive, affirmative thoughts.
Our spiritual thought for the day is: Today I give thanks for the good I have and the good that is to come.
