Weekly Thoughts To Uplift And Inspire

Luke 5:5 “Nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.”

Thomas A Edison said, “The greatest discoveries will be along spiritual lines.  This is the field where miracles are going to happen.  Spiritual power is the greatest underdeveloped power and has the greatest future.”  Edison was a tireless worker, sometimes spending an entire day and night in his laboratory.  One morning, baffled, fatigued, and frustrated, he glanced out of the window where he saw a cobweb, shimmering with dew, glittering in the morning sun.  Then and there came the idea which later resulted in the incandescent lamp.

We remember the story of the discouraged disciples, who, having toiled all night on a troubled sea, were also weary and worn at daybreak.  Suddenly, they too received fresh insight and inspiration when from the Master came these positive words:  “Let down your nets for a draught.”

Edison and the disciples, from the human standpoint, had done their level best, but when intuitive ideas came they immediately acted upon them.  God works for us only by working through us.

Our spiritual thought for the day is:  When inspiration comes to me, I know it is God helping me to help myself.  Thank you, dear God.
