Philippians 4:7 "The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
In the days when St. Paul journeyed around the Mediterranean, he and his converts had great need of peace because they were persecuted. They wanted to live in peace with their neighbors, but their greatest need, as ours is today, was for inner peace.
For our own total good, as St Paul said in Romans 14:19, "... let us follow after the things which make for peace." Some of these "things" are: the conviction that we are truly one with God; a happy, loving attitude; an active prayer relationship with our Father God; the refusal to worry about outer conditions; the practice of non-resistance to disturbing circumstances.
It is also well to remember that, in the last analysis, spiritual thinking and acting bring the solutions to any situations we face in life. To activate them we must think and act with integrity - acknowledge that something good will become evident in every challenge and do what Spirit leads us to do. Then we must let go and let God do His perfect work.
Our spiritual thought for the day: In quietness and confidence, I "follow after the things that make for peace." I express faith, hope, and love. Thank you, dear God.
