When Abraham received intuitive guidance he did not hesitate. He was willing to let go of all the limited old beliefs. He saw a new vision and he followed that vision. Abraham believed God. He put on the new man, accepting new ideas that would lead him and his people to a new land and a new life. In order to carry out the spiritual instructions that came to him, Abraham had to stay close to God in consciousness, so close that he was called the Friend of God.
Even as you yearn to give and receive the friendship of God, even as you yearn for a new vision, new ideas and new experiences, the Spirit within extends eternal friendship and help. “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” (James 4:8) In this feeling of closeness with God you are lifted above fear, doubt and limitation. You are a new person with a new outlook … you are a friend of God.
Our spiritual thought for the day: Dear God, thank you for the ability to be your friend. You are the Spirit of Truth, our Comforter you are with us always. I draw nigh to you in thought, word and act. I am led by the Light that shines throughout the cosmos. With joy I let this Light shine through me. Thank you, Father/Mother God for my intimate friendship with you and all your creation.
