"Following the Teachings of Jesus"
Many Christian churches believe that God is Omnipotent (all powerful), Omniscient (all knowing) and
Omnipresent (everywhere present).   We heartily agree, but much more than other faiths   Divine Science
emphasizes Omnipresence, God Everywhere.  If we truly believe in the Omnipresence of God, the way
we look at and interact with life begins to change dramatically.  If God is everywhere, then He is present
within you and all around you.  Since all of God’s nature (His Goodness, Love, Life, Power, Wisdom,
Peace, Joy, etc.) is either expressed or potential where He is, then all those qualities are either
expressed or potential everywhere – especially in you!  This truth is powerfully supported by the great
statement found in Genesis 1:26 “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.”

Divine Science teaches that there is a non-physical dimension of us some call the soul that is the image
of God, and this unseen part of us is endowed with a full compliment of divine qualities and powers.
Life, and all its challenges, presents us with an ongoing opportunity to discover and express what we
really are – spiritual beings having a human experience.  Our true identity is God’s image – God’s child.
Divine Science Beliefs
A Divine Scientist believes that there are universal spiritual laws that can be found in the Bible and in the
teachings of Jesus.  If we live in harmony with these laws, we experience harmony in our lives.  Because
God gave us both wisdom and plain common sense to use in every aspect of our lives, especially in our
religious beliefs, we never expect blind faith from someone who has become interested in our teachings.

We urge people to just try these ideas - try these methods of practical, positive thinking and living - so
they can prove to themselves, through their own experiences,  that these spiritual principles work!  Life
gets freer, more peaceful, more joyous!
Divine Science does not believe in hell or eternal damnation. How could a God of love create such a
negative thoughts and feelings reign supreme. Why does God allow terrible things to happen? We have
all been given free will, and that includes the freedom to misuse our opportunities and abilities.  But even
punish us.  We are never punished for our mistakes.  We are punished BY our mistakes.  Negative acts
always have negative repercussions.  Those negative repercussions are learning opportunities that
teach us a better way.

Divine Science regards Jesus Christ as the greatest spiritual teacher the world has ever known.  He
came to teach us a method of thinking and living that helps us realize our connection with God’s
Presence and the availability of Divinely created good.  We don’t emphasize Jesus’ death on the cross.
We focus with admiration and joy on the empty tomb; the triumph of resurrection and its meaning for
us.  What does the empty tomb mean?  It means that the person who loves God with “heart, soul, mind
and strength” and “thy neighbor as thyself,”as Jesus taught, connects themselves with a Universal
Force that will help them overcome every obstacle, even one as seemingly final as death.

Finally, our goal is to have an ever deeper sense of our inseparable oneness with God – one that leads
to the experience of illumination – a direct experience with God, Himself.  The time will come when we
see the world and everything in it as God-in-action, a Divine process toward greater order and good, and
we’ll come to know our indispensable role in helping to bring this good into being.
